Janice V. Smith, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2021. She was reunited in Heaven with her parents John and Margaret Jovanovic, sister Jean Chandler Winsor, first husband Paul W. Miller, and second husband Jim Mack Smith. As an heir to the Kingdom she had a charitable heart and always opened her home for anyone who needed shelter or a meal. She loves the Lord and was a long time, active member of Faith United Methodist Church in Boynton Beach.
Jan was born and raised in St. Louis, MO and spent more than 60 years of her life as a South Floridian. She was a graduate of Normandy High School and Southeast Missouri State College. She was a successful business woman and a pioneer that paved the way for women in corporate America today. Jan was a community volunteer, a loyal friend, a world traveler, and lover of animals.
Her legacy lives on through her children: Sally and husband (Steve) Sheffield of Suwanee GA, Paul and wife (Ana) Miller of Valrico FL, Mary Beth and husband (Danny) Gilbert of Chesapeake VA, Margie and husband (Scott) Sullivan of Demorest GA, grandchildren: John and wife (Renee) Miller of Brandon FL, Jacquelyn Coughlin of Riverview FL, Rob and wife (Amanda) Hatcher of Loxahatchee FL, Chrissy Hatcher of Lantana FL, Maria Gilbert of Chesapeake VA, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Private services were held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Boynton Memorial Chapel in Boynton Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers or cards, the family would appreciate donations made in her name to any of the following:
