Family-Placed Funeral Notice

JIMMIE HIRAM SMITH Jimmie Hiram Smith was born on June 21, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and died peacefully on September 26, 2007 at JFK Medical Center, Atlantis, Florida. Jimmie served in the United States Air Force and began his professional career with Hughes Aircraft. He went on to become the founder and president of Wings Electro Sales, Inc., a stocking distributorship of electromechanical components for commercial airliners located in Wellington, Florida. A resident of Palm Beach County, Jimmie was an avid collector of classic automobiles and a race enthusiast. He loved and enjoyed his family, his work, restoring classic cars, riding his motorcycles and good old fashioned southern food. Jimmie's life is remembered and celebrated for his immense generosity and kindheartedness. He had a solid work ethic and unwavering devotion to his family, friends and church community. Born to Hiram and Ruth Smith, Jimmie is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kathleen, five children and 10 grandchildren. Sons, Gary (wife Stacey) and Dale of Wellington, Florida, Frederick J. Eich (wife Victoria) of Greenville, South Carolina and daughters Kathleen M. McPherson also of Wellington and Linda Dwyer (husband Jared) of Alexandria, Virginia. Jimmie is also survived by his brothers, Dale and Johnnie Smith and one sister, Juanita Arnwine. Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 3:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, September 30 at Palms West Funeral Home in Royal Palm Beach. A memorial service in celebration of Jimmie's life will be held on Monday, October 1 at 11:30 am with interment to follow at Lake Worth Memory Gardens.
