JOE MANERA 82, died peacefully at home on February 3, 2005, after a courageous 3 year battle with lymphoma. Mr. Manera was born May 3, 1922 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Salvatore Manera and the late Elvira LoCicero Manera into a large and loving Italian family. He will be greatly missed. On June 7, 1947, he married LaVerne J. Stein. Mr. Manera was a salesman, and one of the best. He began his career in Milwaukee as a milkman, rising to become an executive in the building industry with Split Rock, a building material manufacturer. In November of 1970, Mr. Manera moved his family to North Palm Beach where he entered the real estate industry as sales manager of the Waterway Condominiums. When the project sold out, Mr. Manera worked for several local real estate brokers before opening Manera Real Estate in North Palm Beach in 1978, where he successfully pulled together some of the first apartment/condominium conversions in the area. Joe Manera was also active with the Northern Palm Beach County Board of Realtors, serving as an officer on the Board for four years and eventually as President in the early 1980s. In 1986, Mr. Manera came to work full time with Auto Service Contract Company, Inc. a provider of insurance products, as Executive Vice-President, calling on insurance agents across the entire state of Florida until his retirement in 1997. He was an active and proud member of the First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach. Mr. Manera was a talented, warm and caring man, loved by all who met him, but most especially by his family. He is survived by his wife, LaVerne Stein Manera of North Palm Beach, his daughter and her husband, Sherry Lynn and Greg Hart of Oklahoma, his son and his wife, Ronald J. and Sandi J. Manera of Palm Beach Gardens, his son and his wife Mark J. and Diane Manera of Vero Beach and his son Jeffrey J. Manera of Palm Beach Gardens, grandchildren Becky Haun, Christopher Thomas, Joe S. Manera, Gina E. Bailey, Zack R. Manera, Max M. Manera, Adam J. Manera, Shane Manera (USMC), Travis Manera, Amber Manera, Sommer Manera and great-grandchildren Alex Manera and Kamryn Haun. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Nathaniel Manera and Louis Manera and survived by his loving sisters and their husbands, Rose and Vince Emanuele, Zina and Dr. Robert Lillard, Eda and Rev. Bob Jacobson, and Marie and Dr. Matt Matthews. Memorial services will be conducted by Dr. Robert Lillard at the First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach, 1101 S. Flagler Drive, W. Palm Beach, FL on February 12, 2005 at 11:00AM.
