Family-Placed Obituary
JULIA E. ATHERLEY Julia E. Atherley, 78, of St. Augustine, passed away unexpectedly on July 6, 2008. Former owner of Anchor Inn Seafood Restaurant in Lantana, FL, Julia was born in Newark, NJ and lived in Florida for over 40 years. After her retirement, she relocated with her husband Lyle to St. Augustine to be closer to family. Julia was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her passions included entertaining for her family around a large table of lovingly prepared food, challenging her husband at cribbage and meeting new friends while playing blackjack on the High Seas. Julia is preceded in death by her parents, Julia Robshaw and Morris Dwyer, sister Mae Aurnhammer, brother Edward Dwyer and devoted pet 'Honey'. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Lyle Atherley; daughters, Irene Dumas (Jim) of Palm Coast, FL, Gail Domigan of Tallahassee, FL, Julie McCrink of St. Augustine, Cheryl Atherley (Vee) of West Palm Beach, FL; sons, Allan MacPhee (Cat) of St. John, USV, Darryl Atherley and Mark Atherley (Betty) both of Cape Coral, FL; brother, William Robshaw of Maplewood, NJ; cousin and 'sister in spirit' Ceil Novinkski of Fall River, MA.; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family is graciously accepting flowers or donations may be made to Friends of Greyhounds, P.O. Box 100894, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33310-0894, www.friendsofgreyhounds.org. I was sad to hear of Julia's passing. My thoughts are with all of the Atherleys. I have fond memories of working at the Anchor Inn when I first moved to Florida. I learned a lot about good food, good times and good wine from Lyle and Julia. God Bless

Dear Lyle and family,

julia was my grandmother and i will miss her very much! she was not your typical grandmother, she had a very youthful spirit. she enjoyed life and loved to have a good time. some of my favorite memories were going to the dog track in New Hampshire, shopping in Palm Beach, family dinners at the Anchor Inn and all of the wonderful family gatherings and parties we had. she loved to play games, gamble, eat good food and drink good wine. her family was the most important thing to her and she was a very hard worker. she always opened her house to anyone in need. thanksgiving meals always had extra friends that did not have family around or a place to go. she was one of the best cooks i knew and made the best macaroni and cheese. me, simon and jordan will miss her immensley and will always remember her as a fiesty, fun spirited, loving grandmother. i love you mommom!!!
