Kevin RICHTER Obituary

RICHTER, Kevin Thomas
Kevin Thomas Richter was born May 18th, 1955, in Miami Beach, Florida. After a long, courageous battle with cancer, Kevin passed away on July 3rd. Kevin's family and friends were at his bedside reminiscing how he lived every day with a tremendous joy for life and dedication to family, spirituality, and community. Kevin was the fifth child of seven deeply connected sons, who never missed an opportunity to get together to laugh and celebrate like those seven boys of Bay Heights. Whether at annual fishing trips or family celebrations, Kevin was the life of the party, lifting the boys to new adventures and stories. Kevin was a loving and forever devoted father to his darling Ava. He cherished every moment he spent with her and always said leaving his princess was the hardest part about having to go so soon. Kevin was committed to building the Jewish community and Zionism wherever he went. He was instrumental in the funding and growth of the Jewish Congregation of Maui and Chabad of Hawaii. Kevin was a man of many passions and talents. He was a patriot who loved political debate and all things American, an excellent golfer, and a devout Miami Dolphins fan. His greatest skill was connecting with others. People always left Kevin feeling special and cared for, and as a result, Kevin leaves a legacy of many deep, devoted relationships. Kevin would like all his friends to know that he wished he had the strength and time to say goodbye to each of you. For 40 years, Kevin was one of the preeminent estate jewelers in the country running stores in Palm Beach, Los Angeles, and Maui, where he founded, grew, and operated Richters of Hawaii for 20 years. Kevin wanted to thank Dr. David Quinn and all the nurses and staff at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center for their care and friendship. He is survived and deeply missed by his beloved daughter (Ava), father (Daniel), mother (Phyliss), and six brothers (Rick, Dudley, Bradley, Weston, Vinson, and Stefan), who will always see themselves as one of seven.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to USC Norris in honor of Dr. David Quinn at 1441 Eastlake Avenue, Room 8302, Los Angeles, CA 90033. The pallbearers will be his six brothers, and services will be held in Los Angeles at 12:30 pm this Sunday, July 5, at Mount Sinai Memorial Park.

Still think of Kevin after all these years. We lived a couple doors down and across the street, so spent much time together as children. Kevin was always so funny, playful, sweet, and kind. I remember all the Richter family- especially Bradley, our dear vet, and the twins, Vinson and Stefan, who played with David, my younger brother. Sending fond regards while remembering our dear Kevin. Love, Cynthia Dembrow Junkin

I was a college room mate at FSU with Kevin. We last spoke in 2014 while my brother Mike (also a room mate) was visiting Maui. Kevin introduce me to the love of Jazz music. We were planning a trip this year to Maui, and stumbled on this obituary. Kevin always loved to laugh. We enjoyed taking road trips in his Mazda RX 7, listening to jazz artist such as Stanley Clark, chick Corriea, the James Gang and many more. I'm sorry I did not get to visit with him in our adult life. Kevin keep on driving and listening to Barry White. You were a super individual and a friend in deed. If Any of his brothers want to contact me I would welcome talking to them. I'm blessed to have known him. Roger A. Beale, Jacksonville Florida

I am extremely saddened to learn of Kevin's passing. Although we lost touch over the years, I knew Kevin and his entire family very well in our high school years in Miami. Kevin and I were best friends in those early days - inseparable for many years, as some might remember. Kevin's heart and kindness towards his family and friends was unforgettable. He would go out of his way to do anything in the world for someone else, without expecting anything in return. And we shared discovering so much great music together. Kevin truly loved his music. He was a great friend, and my best friend early in my life. I always regretted losing touch with him. And I have always missed him. Everyone will miss him now. Rest peacefully, Kevin. You were a gift and a blessing to all.

The loss of a loved one, who was a tremendous son, brother and friend, is a traumatic experience. Having lost a child, I understand the grief of the loss will never go away. Over time, you create defense mechanisms that mask the loss and allow you to remember the great memories of his life. In watching Kevin grow into a great man, I was able to experience joy and happiness, which will remain as a positive remembrance of Kevin.
The eternal worth of Kevin's life will inspire those of us who loved him to continue living our lives with a reflection of Kevin and his positive life approach. There will come a day that we will all be in the same place loving and caring for each other. Until then: We love you - the DeLucca Family

I am so sorry for your loss. Kevin was unique in many ways, and growing up together was a lot of fun. I have memories of many good times shooting hoops in the driveway (when you guys would let us!) and just "hanging around". You are so fortunate to have each other to help you through this loss. Sending my best wishes to all of you.

I am so saddened to hear of Kevin's passing. When my mother Gloria Feldman was residing at Hazel Cypen Towers, Danny would tell me what all his son are doing. I know he was so proud of all of the Richter boys. He was so happy when he described Kevin being in the same business in Hawaii. My love and prayers to all the Richter family and Phyllis. My sisters and I grew up 4 doors down the street in Bay Heights. We all attended Temple Israel Sabbath School.

Dear Richter Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this very difficult time. Kevin was such a special man and we had a magical evening together in Hawaii many years ago. He was so lovely to our children and was proud to show us his magnificent store. Ten years ago, he selected the most gorgeous engagement ring as Randy & I were to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. He called the rings "Little Girls" (which I loved). We send our love and support to our Aunt Phyliss and to all our Cousins. Love, Janice,Randy, Elizabeth, Randall & Rachel (newly engaged).
