Mabel LaFOUNTAIN Obituary

LaFOUNTAIN, Mabel L. (Stevens)

Mabel L. (Stevens) LaFountain, 85, departed from the beloved farm, Walnut Hill, which she called home, and went to be with the Lord in the early hours of April 24, 2013 while surrounded by her family. She was born on July 20, 1927 in South Lyndeborough, NH, the daughter of the late Arthur Lawrence Edwards and Grace Marie (Puckett) Edwards. In her short 85 years, Mabel held several titles including that of, wife, mother, friend, dispatcher for the Springfield Police Department, Springfield, VT, and eventually retiring from insurance billing at Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Boynton Beach, FL. Her greatest love in life was caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as caring for the many others who were fortunate enough to meet her, who also called her mom. She was an avid NASCAR fan and a lover of all animals, small or large. Mabel was preceded in death by a son, Edward L. Stevens. She is survived by her children, Randy R. Stevens, Barry A. Stevens, Ronna Stevens-Niebel and Kendra Stevens-Gould, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A ceremony celebrating Mabel's life will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial donations may be made to the Springfield Humane Society, 401 Skitchewaug Trail, Springfield, VT 05156 "Mom, we know you always put us before yourself; we know you loved us unconditionally, and we know our lives will not be the same without you. We miss you and we love you with all our hearts. Thank you, Mom. We will see you on the other side of the mountain...one day". Love, Randy, Barry, Ronna and Kendra.

The news of your Mother's passing was hard to hear. I was one of the fortunate ones that your Mom took in as a very young child when my Mother was ill. She was a very sweet lady and always put others before herself. She will be greatly missed by many.
