Family-Placed ObituaryMARJORIE B. CRAWFORD "Marge" Marjorie B. "Marge" Crawford passed away peacefully at her home in West Palm Beach, FL on Wednesday February 15, 2012. Marge was born at Columbia Hospital in Orange, NJ on October 19, 1926 and was the only child of Calvin and Hattie Bromley of Milburn and Maplewood, NJ. After graduating from Milburn High School, Marge traveled to Columbia, Mo where she attended Stephen's College from 1944 to 1946 and received and Associate in Arts Degree. It was in 1944 that Stephen's College began a ground-breaking program in Aviation studies for women and Marge immediately joined the Aviation Club, serving as Treasurer and Secretary and receiving her Private Pilot's license. It was her love of flying the led her to the love of her life, Wilmer D. "Bill" Crawford, who she met at work (Aviation Underwriters, New York, NY) and married in 1948 and enjoyed a wonderful and full marriage that lasted 55 years until Bill passed away in 2003. Marge loved life and enjoyed gardening, piano, bowling, golf, travel and most of all her Schipperkes. While raising her sons in North Caldwell, NJ, she volunteered in numerous programs including Cub Scouts, the town Teen Center and the High School Band Booster program. Upon moving to FL in the late 1970's, while balancing part-time work managing a local home fuel company, she continued in her volunteer efforts and helped pilot a program at the Palm Beach International Airport in which she and Bill became two of the first Captains of the Ambassador program, which assisted travelers needing direction and support within the airport. This program continues to serve travelers today. Predeceased by her loving parents, Calvin and Hattie Bromley and her husband Bill, Marge is survived by her loving sons, Thomas and Peter; her three grandchildren, Bryan, Alyssa and Nicole; her new "grandson-in-law" Jesse and Tricia, her son Peter's Fiancée. Two special people who are remembering Marge fondly are Mike Vitello and Kawanna Dixon, her two Home Healthcare professionals who cared for her over much of the past three years. Marge and Bill were often ahead of their time as demonstrated by many life choices, including their choice to be cremated. Memorial services in both Florida and New Jersey are pending and details are forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The ARC (
http://www.thearc.org/) or to Spence-Chapin Adoption services (
http://www.spence-chapin.org/) would be greatly appreciated by the family as these organizations support ideals that were dear to both Marge and Bill. To express condolences and/or make donations Visit
