We thank Mark for all the wonderful memories, but mostly for his big heart. He was special in many ways.

As a 12 year old in Massachusetts in 1976, there was a lot going on with the Bicentenial. I was and remain a Red Sox fan, but I vividly remember that summer and Mark's pitching. I am sorry for your loss. God Bless you.

Mark made me a Tigers fan in 1974. I am shocked and saddened by his loss. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Ann and Jessica, I cannot begin to express my deep felt sorrow for your loss. Mark was an extraodinary man. My favorite memory will always be Jake and him throwing the ball at DJ's.
God be with you.

It was a magical summer. The Tigers were terrible. Fidrych was great. The team averaged 15,000 fans for home games, except when he pitched. Then they sold out Tiger Stadium. He was injured the next season, and never pitched like that again, but so what? I met my wife that year, so it was extra special for me. That's why I'm a little sad today, because he was part of a very special year. Thanks for the memories Mark.

Thanks to the "Bird" for his entertainment in the short time he pitched in the big leagues !! Talking to the ball, playing in the dirt, and giving Johnny Bench some "chin music" made it fun to watch him.

RIP Mark "The Bird" Fidyrich !!!
