Family-Placed Obituary

MATTHEW FAIRCLOTH Mr. Faircloth passed away on Tuesday, April 6,2010 in Charlotte, NC, after fighting a courageous battle with Carcinoid Cancer. Born on January 24, 1979 in Philadelphia, PA, Matt was the son of Paul Faircloth of PA and Kay Faircloth of Boynton Beach, FL. Matt married Laura Anderson on August 9, 2008 in Quebec City, Canada. Matt graduated from Pope John Paul High School in Boca Raton, FL in 1997 and was awarded the Scholar-Athlete Award by the National Football Association of the Treasure Coast. He graduated from Bucknell University with a BS in Civil Engineering and was a member of their football team. Matt worked as a construction Project Manager in Washington DC and Hawaii. Matt is remembered by all who knew him for his calm character, his kindness to all, his jovial personality; his love of snowboarding, mountain biking, golf and all things sports and spending time on the Hawaiian beaches with his wife, Laura and dog, Porter. Survivors include his wife, Laura; mother, Kay; father, Paul; cousins, aunts, uncles; in-laws, Gerry and Margie and all his many loving friends from Florida, Washington and Hawaii. Services will be held in Washington DC, at 2 PM Saturday, April 17 in St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Burial will take place at Rock Creek Cemetery. Matt was a great person. Such a nice guy and always fun to be around. We lost touch after college, but I always considered him a good friend. Matt will definitely be missed. My condolences to his family.

I didn't know Matthew. But I know the sadness, pain and shock of your loss. My son also passed away with carcinoid cancer. I pray that God will give you strength and that one day there will be a cure.
