Family-Placed Obituary

MATTIE C. OZINGA Mattie Clark Ozinga, 96, of Lake Worth passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2008. She was predeceased by husband William N. Ozinga. She is survived by her children, Elaine McNamara (Jack) of Pompano Beach, Tom Clark (Kay) of Wellington, and Janet Uijttenbroek (Aad) of Scottsdale, AZ and The Netherlands; special nephew, Edward King (Eileen) of Lake Worth; stepdaughters, Donna Brooks (Bob) of Orlando and Judy Kimberly (Ron) of Buford, GA. Other survivors include sister-in-law Dorothy Vardaman of Columbus, GA, nephew Bob Vardaman of Montgomery, AL, nieces Franz Rankin (Bob) and Betty Cressman of Lake Clark and Jan Vardaman-Vaz (Oscar) of Austin, TX. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and many dear great-and great-great-grandchildren. Mattie Clyde Vardaman, born in Seale, AL, was the eighth of nine children of Z.T. and Frances Vardaman. She moved from Tallassee, AL to Lake Worth in 1931 to live with her older sister Pearle King. She was active in Calvary Methodist Church, married there and moved to North A St. where she lived the rest of her life. She worked for the First National Bank in Palm Beach for 35 years. Her southern upbringing was the basis of the Ôgentlewoman' characteristics she exhibited. Goodness and generosity were hallmarks of her personality. She will be sorely missed and always loved. Friends may call between 4 PM and 6 PM on Tuesday, March 4 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, March 5 at Calvary Methodist Church, 301 1st Avenue South, Lake Worth. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dorsey -E.
