NELDA M. STOKOWSKI Nelda M. Stokowski, 83, of Wellington, FL, formerly of Peoria, IL, passed away at 3:14 AM on Monday, July 16, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Nelda was born October 3, 1928 in Shelby, NE to Orville and Bertha (Graff) Keebaugh. She married Joseph J. Stokowski on September 27, 1947 in Peoria, IL. He passed away on May 13, 2005 in Wellington, FL. Also preceding her in death was one sister. Nelda had been with the US Postal Service, both in Peoria, IL and West Palm Beach, FL, until her retirement in 1992. She also worked in real estate and banking. She was a former member of the National Association of Postal Supervisors. When in real estate, Nelda had been an associate member of the North Palm Beach Board of Realtors and the Florida Association of Realtors. She had also been a member of the staff of the National Fertilizer Association. She is survived by one son, Jerry (Carla) Stokowski of Dunlap, IL; one daughter, Judith Ann Stokowski of Apalachicola, FL; and one grandson, Joseph Stokowski of Dunlap, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Peoria, IL. Franciscan Friars will officiate. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior also at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery in Royal Palm Beach, FL. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Peoria, IL. Judi - I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mother. She was one of the sweetest people I ever worked with. I know there is "a time to every purpose", but the loss of a Mother is such a hard burden to carry. I hope you are surrounded by family and caring friends to lift you up in the difficult days ahead. Please post the interment info on Facebook, or FB email me so I can try to be present. Meanwhile, I will pray for you and your brother to have a calming sense of peace and acceptance and joy in knowing that Nelda is now in the best possible place - no longer in pain or sorrow but in eternal joy.
