Richard "Dick"
Richard "Dick" Healander of Jupiter, FL and Rockville, MD went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pontiac, MI on July 21, 1935 to the late Sam and Mary Healander. He served in the US Army. He married the love of his life, Rose, on May 25, 1963. Dick owned and managed several businesses in MD. He moved to FL in 1990. He was a private pilot, loved skiing and especially playing golf. He never knew a stranger. Dick was loved by all and will be greatly missed. His greatest pleasure was to lend a helping hand to people in need, most recipients never knowing of his role in their journey. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rose; his daughter, Julie (John) Horsley of Olney, MD, son Jeff (Beth) Healander of Lexington., KY.; six grandchildren, Jason, Andrew and Katelyn Horsley and Carly, Samantha and Riley Healander; His sisters, Janet (Jim) Smith of MN, Mary Frances Healander of MI, brothers, Roy (Alice) Healander and David (Caryn) Healander both of MD; Brothers-in-law, Hal (Gloria) Frock and Steve (Kim) Frock and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant children Debra and Michael, sister Joanne Haddad and brother Michael Healander. Dick had a strong faith and was an active parishioner at St. Peter's Catholic Church and formerly St. Paul of the Cross. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #13139. A Celebration of his life and visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 250 Center Street, Jupiter, FL. Mass will be held at 10 AM, Monday, October 27, 2014 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1701 Indian Creek Parkway, Jupiter, FL with burial to follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 19351 SE County Line Rd., Tequesta, FL. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Lord's Place, 2808 N. Australian Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407 or Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407 in memory of Richard Healander.
