SANFORD L. WARD Born September 14, 1965 and was called from labor to reward on June 23, 2006. Those left to cherish his memory include: his parents, Earlis and Alice Ward; three brothers, Earlis K. Ward (Sunday), Darryl W. Ward (Karen), and Alfred T. Ward (Tracy); three sisters, Sylvia W. McClaine (Ronald), Cassandra W. Simmons (Michael), and Miranda W. Washington (Sandy); grandparents, Pastor and Mrs. Nathaniel Williams; and a host of nieces and nephews. Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Redemptive Life Fellowship, with Pastor Harold Ray officiating. Viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2006, at Redemptive Life. Sanford you may have been my lil brother but when I needed you you trun out to be my big brother with the right answers and I thank you for that . One thing I remember about you is that when you see me you will pick me up and I will call daddy he would say to you put that girl down before you hurt her, not knowing as we got older you will be there to pick me up in so many other ways. Hey uncle Sanford, you have been heavily on my mind. I dont know why but I came here to talk to you I guess, I've moved to Atlanta so i cant visit your grave but this will do for now. It has been so much going on since you've been gone! The family is trying really hard to keep us close as we used to be, but it's just not the same! I miss you so much! The fun is not there. I think about all the fun we used to have and smile even in my sleep. I wish you were still here with us! Hey Uncle Sanford,

Well you have your brother there with you now. I know you guys are holding it down up there. I can only imagine the melodies that are being sanged in that heavenly choir, and the loving embrace you and grandma and Jay Jay shared with Al when he came home. I wish all of you were back here with us, we miss all of you so much! I especially miss the jokes and the pranks from you, Sanford your smile alone made me happy to see you coming. I miss singing in the family and friends choir, I actually looked forward to the very long choir rehearsals and holding those really long notes, I miss all of the fun times we had at our family gatherings, even during the hurricane seasons and how scared you were to leave your house, but as soon as grandma called and said she cooked your favorite breakfast you was not scared to leave and come eat. LOL! those were the days. I Love You and miss you so much. Til we meet again.

My Baby Brother. Words can’t express how much you’re being missed by your family and you know how the “LOVE FLOW WITH US”. It hurt so deeply just knowing I will not be able to pick up the phone to call you, to see you or just to have you on my team when we are playing family games. The Lord knows best and he doesn’t make any mistakes. He was waiting until you finish the mission he put you on earth to do and that is what you did BEST. He’s aware of how you made people feel when they crossed your path. We are aware of how his music made you feel because you were a living example of the words you shared. Words can’t describe the things you brought to earth and missing you is the thing that hurt the worse. Now that you have completed your mission playing music for God’s Children day by day I can only imagine the fun you are having in Heaven with that BIG SMILE on your face. Though I did not know Bro. Ward on a personal or associate level, I will truly miss hearing him on the radio every Sunday morning on my way to church. Bro. Ward's enthusiasm and good taste in gospel music kept me listening EVERY Sunday whether I planned on attending church or not. From what I read, God worked through Bro. Ward to reach and touch the lives of many people throughout his life. The services that Bro. Ward rendered greatly exceeded that of someone his age, which is why I know that God is taking care of him. Every Sunday morning, when that radio comes on, know that Bro. Ward isn't doing anything less than smiling on you all, admiring the fantastic job that is being done too carry out his legacy and the services of GOD. Sanford and I grew up together. We both attended Greater Bethel Primitive Baptist Church under Pastor RJ Hendley, Jr. We knew one another for 38 years. We have always been friends and our families are very close. I loved and respected Sanford as a trye friend. I appreciate how he helped my business and always gave of himself unselfishly. My sincere and deepest sympathy goes out to you, but also the joy of the Lord I share with you that he is in a better place, where we all must strive to meet him one day!!

I can remember Sanford as a little girl, a member of the Original Singing Angels, always smiling, laughing and tripping out with the other sisters and brothers of the gospel. Sanford would promote my mom, Dr. Olivia Jones Mack, and us ( the Singing Angels) in the most encouraging and uplifting way that no one else could. I loved to hear him on WPOM growing up. If Sanford was not on, there was a big difference; He just knew what to say, and how to say it!!! He would always make me laugh!!

He will truly be missed for his personality, dedication to the community, radio audience, and many more...

May God Bless you and keep you and remember that the JOY of the Lord is your strength; Sanford truly had JOY!! :-)

Sanford really loved the teenagers in that group and always invited us places to sing and made us feel so welcomed. He will truly be missed. May God comfort you in this trying time.
