A Juno Beach police officer was one of two young women killed early this morning when the car they were riding in careened off a newly opened stretch of a Martin County road.
Officer Tiffany Renee Russell, 24, of Juno Beach and Lynda Kathryn Kruse, 23, of Stuart were both ejected from the two-door 2003 Mini Cooper when Kruse failed to negotiate a curve on Southwest Citrus Boulevard at about 2:45 a.m. and the car went off the road and began rolling, according to a Florida Highway Patrol release. The stretch of Citrus Boulevard had just recently opened, spokesman Lt. Tim Frith said.
Neither woman was wearing a seat belt and both died at the scene, he said. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor.
Russell's boyfriend, who is also in law enforcement, found the overturned car with Martin County Sheriff's Office deputies later Sunday morning, Frith said.
Juno Beach police chief Dennis Weiner said in a release Sunday that Russell had been with the department for only a year and a half, but "in that short time, she had become a valued part of our community, a dedicated officer and great friend to all of us here."
Funeral services are pending, the statement said.
"She was extremely well-liked in this small community and will be dearly missed," Weiner said.

I never knew Tiffany, but I work with her sister, Megan, who talks about her a lot, and it is so sad to hear of someone losing a family member and grieving for them, and missing them. I also know her cousin, Danielle, and her other sister, Stacy, and have recently met her mother, Lynda. My deepest sympathies to your entire family for your loss....even tho it has been 4 years...I'm sure it feels like only yesterday. Rest in eternal peace, Tiffany and God Bless your family you left behind, and your precious little daughter. Love, Angela

Tiffany, you were loved by so many and I know you are missed very much. You were always such a happy go lucky kind of person with a big smile on your face. It saddens me so much that you had to leave us all behind, especially Chad and your beautiful Hailey. But I also know you are in all our thoughts and held in all our hearts. I can't believe this happened and believe you had so much life left to live, but the life you had brightened so many people. I will always have memories of hanging out at the campground and riding bikes, and just being kids. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and I hope they know that you are still with them and will never be forgotten.

From what I know of you, you were an amazing mother, cop and all around great person. I remember Tiffany when she was about 18, we would always see her driving around with her girlfriends, or she would stop in to talk to us when we would get some coffee.
Since I knew her she always wanted to be in law enforcement, and worked hard to finally get there.
She was always happy and had a beautiful smile.
To Tiffany's family, fiance, and daughter please accept my deepest condolences.
To Tiffany, may God lift your soul and heal the pain of your loss.

Tiffany, I love you and I miss you so much. I wish I had done more to keep in touch when you moved to Florida all those years ago. Talking on instant messenger and a email here and there wasnt enough. Even though it has been so long, your passing hit me so hard. I remember all the good times we had as kids. Everyday after school going over to Granma Peggy's, watching movies with Andy, playing out in the street, or over at the park or in the alley. When it snowed going sleigh riding down the hill at the park, having snowball fights in the street or having Andy bury us in the snow. You were my best friend growing up on Randall Street and we were thick as thieves. You were more than a friend, you were the sister I did not have. Through thick and friend, through all the problems, we found ways to get through and have fun, or get into trouble. Times at the campground with Ricky and the gang, riding the dirt bikes, going to the dunes, shooting pool at the teen center, racing and mud bogging on the golf carts. I still remember that song you constantly played on the jukebox down there and now it saddens me to listen to it. Deanna Carter "We Danced Anyway". And when granma came down for that week and had the big tent set up, in the morning it was you and me on that grill, making breakfast for the others who were crashed in the tents. And when you were back in the city staying with your other granma, I remember cutting through the park to head to the house where, we ordered pizza and watched more movies. Just sitting around, chilling, not a care in the world. I just can not believe a light like you who shined so brightly in this world is no longer with us. You have taken a piece of my heart with you but your memory is forever burned into memory. My heart goes out to everyone, Miss Linda, Mr. Wayne, Stacey, Meagan, Chad, Hailey, Miss Rose and the whole gang. You are all in my prayers during this tough and tragic time. Tiffany Renee, my friend, I truly hope you do rest in peace, and when you are not watching over those who have loved you and miss you, that you will be with Andy, smiling, and happy and have those green pastures and a good horse to ride all over them. Rest In Peace My Friend. You are gone but will never be forgotten.
"Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven."

I am saddened to here of the tragic passing of another officer and her dear friend. I had the pleasure of training Officer Russell in the Police Academy and she was named as the Jupiter Island Public Safety ride along intern officer during her fast track program at the Indian River State College. I was very pleased to hear she was working for a highly regarded agency such as Juno Beach. I believed her decision to go to work in Juno Beach was a reflection of her time spent on Jupiter Island as an intern. She had a true dedication to serve the citizens of Florida and the residents of Juno Beach. She liked the "family" atmosphere of a small agency and felt she could serve to community better in a smaller town.
I would like to send our heartfelt condolences to both families in this tragic incident. I would also like to send our condolences to the members of the Juno Beach Police Department for their loss.
Sincerely,
Chief Ted J. Gonzales
