Bill was one of my best friends in high school and college. He was my surfing buddy and confidant, always encouraging and supportive when I was unsure of my abilities in the water. We had lost touch over the years, but reconnected awhile ago. Bill was always there for me with a kind word, positive thought, silly card, fabulous photograph or humorous anecdote, not to mention leftover pizza from Domino's when we were in college in Gainesville (Go Gators!). I admired Bill because he truly lived life the way he wanted to, not how society said he should. I am so thankful I have so many memories and photos of his to hold on to. His time was too brief but he brightened so many people's lives. I cherish the thought that I will forever share that "oceanic feeling" with him. I love you Bill and will forever miss you.

To know Bill Dunn was to know life. Always geniune with a smile and a warm heart. Fond memories of cooking collard greens and black bean soup among the various other specialities aways left you wanting more. I feel very lucky to have so many fond memories of Bill. We will always hold a special place on our hearts for 3 weeks in the summer and everyday with Bill. Our coconut palms have always brought a smile to our faces because that is where Bill said they should be. Sail Inn Crawl Home. . . . I feel so bad that he left us so early but I feel so blessed to have had him in our lives. You were truly loved Bill Dunn.

You are a generous and creative soul, Bill. I'm going to miss you every time I go on the Dog Beach webcam--which is almost daily. The UP just won't be the same without your physical presence, but fortunately your spirit is infused throughout it, as you left us with innumerable touchstones. Those pinapples may be priceless in a few years!

Though I lost touch with him since the late 70s, Bill Dunn was one of the nicest and most creative people I can remember from my high school days at St. Andrew's. I got to know him through my surfer pal and still best friend, Kirste Johnson. He was always fun to be with and had a great sense of humor. Bill was an environmentalist, a natural artist, and a compassionate friend. I hope his family can take some comfort in knowing he brought laughter and joy to so many who were lucky enough to share time with him.

Warm message for a precious soul...
Dear Bill Dunn,
I wanted to share a gratitude prayer for all you have done for me. First, and foremost I would like to express my deepest thanksgiving for your love. No matter what life brought us, you always accepted me for who I am. Second, I am very blessed for having you as a friend. It was always fun together when we were in the kitchen cooking something country, doing yard work with lots of beers, going to the palm sales at Calusa Park, planting the coconuts in the back yard and then relaxing in the garden. I will always remember these good times. Next, I truly cherish our trip to Costa Rica. The surfing for you, the boogie boarding for me, photos of all, all the food, the rafting trip, the scorpions, and so much more. Lastly, thank you for teaching me to dance this dance called life. Just dance with whatever life brings, even with the sad moments…
I thank you Bill Dunn. I will always remember you.
God Bless this Irish Soul!!!

An Old Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
I will miss you dearly my friend...

Dear Bill,
You came to us right out of school. You were a quick learner and very sociable, warm and outgoing. We knew we could depend upon you, many of our clients commented about how nice you were. You became a part of our family and we will allways remember you fondly.

I work at FAU in the Jewish Studies/Raddock Chair program. For all of our major events we hired Bill as our photographer. He was kind, considerate and always on time making sure the pictures were in our hands only days after an event. Most of our guests came to know Bill. He will be missed enormously.

The County Pocket AKA Dog Beach neighborhood will never be the same. There are reminders on every street, every house. The Sunsets and Sunrises and every cloud formation will be studied looking for some sign of Bill for as long as I live.

Bill Dunn, surfer, diver, photographer-best friend- kind, generous, honest, loyal, quick with a joke and always lending a helping hand. Your talent and passion for the arts and photography was admired by all. We will all enjoy your palms and plants which you nurtured like your children. The line up in the surf has a hole that no one can fill. Thank for friendship over so many years. Great Spirit take care of our special friend. Let The Bill Dunn Spirit warm our hearts and the memories bubble over with sea breezes and laughter. Your family and friends will miss you deeply but we have comfort knowing you are well and happy.
