Deborah Lindervall Obituary
On Saturday, July 29th, 2023, our family lost a beautiful soul when Deborah Elizabeth Lindervall, age 64, went to Heaven after her fight with cancer.
Deborah was born on September 8th, 1958, in Northridge, CA to Elmer James Yates and Lucille B. McLaughlin. She was the youngest of five children. She was always fondly thought of as the social butterfly in the memories she and others recounted of her younger years. She attended Foothill High School in Tustin, CA, graduating as part of the Class of 1976. She then went on to attend San Diego State University where she majored in Broadcast Journalism. Afterwards, she worked for the Orange County Register and Apple. She was always good with words and would often quip, "Say what you mean, and mean what you say!"
She moved to Blythe, CA in the late 1980s and soon found a new passion in the form of animal welfare. One day when she was out walking several dogs, she spent time pondering a business nickname or moniker, and one that sounded good on the radio. Looking ahead on the road as the dogs trotted, dirt flying and highlighted by the sun, she noticed how dusty of a road it looked. And so her nickname "Dusty Roads" was born and became the name that Blythe's community knows so well. As Dusty Roads, she created a nonprofit animal shelter, run on donations and her own spending. She found homes for hundreds of dogs and cats, and even horses, pigs, and birds.
Blythe is also where she met and fell in love with Michael John Lindervall, to whom she married December 31st, 1994. They grew their family and provided a warm and loving home for their one daughter, Lyndsay. Her and Michael enjoyed 28 and ½ years of loving marriage.
Dusty's hobbies were scrapbooking, cooking, antiquing, and reading books but her passions were people and animals. She was always there to help, give advice, or give love. Whenever you needed love or hope, she was there with an encouraging word or a Bible verse, a warm hug, or a quick joke to lift your spirits.
She is survived by her husband, Michael John Lindervall; their daughter Lyndsay Lucille Lawrence (Christopher); her brothers Jim Yates (Sue) and Steve Yates; and many nieces and nephews and cousins whom she all loved dearly. She was welcomed in Heaven by her parents Elmer and Lucille Yates, and her sisters Judy Anderson (Richard) and Pamala Yates.
A Celebration of Life will be held 10am on September 16th at the Zion Lutheran Church, 701 E. Chanslor Way, in Blythe, CA.
Please consider including purple in your attire, if attending, as that was her favorite color.
