Allen Dean "Al" Litwiller

May 23, 1939 - October 4, 2025

Allen Dean "Al" Litwiller, 86 of Paxton, peacefully passed away at 7:39 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Gibson Area Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Dewey Community Church, 16 3rd Street, Dewey, Illinois 61840 with Pastor Neal Hauser officiating. Burial will follow in East Bend Cemetery, Fisher.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 10, at the Dewey Community Church and one hour before the funeral service on Saturday. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling arrangements.

Al was born May 23, 1939, in Lincoln the son of Joe and Alma Good Litwiller.

He married Marilyn J. Bachman on March 20, 1965 in Hopedale, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Galen (Clair) Litwiller of Paxton, IL; two daughters, Becky (Russ) Hunsberger of Shipshewana, IN and Shelly (Chris) Jostes of Canton, MI; 16 grandchildren, Marty (Kellsi) Litwiller, Anita (Ben) Parker, Aden, Beth, Katie, Caleb Litwiller, Andrew (Emilie), Jordan, Brandon (Maddi), Morgan, and Ryan Hunsberger, Trenton Bixler, August, Gabriel, Anika, Grace Jostes; two great grandchildren, Annabel and Emmett Litwiller.

Al is survived by 2 sisters, Dorothy Klassen, Hopedale, IL and Loretta (Ed) Slaubaugh, Loogootee, IN; a sister-in-law, Dorthea Litwiller, Goshen, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings, Lloyd, Glen, and Marvin Litwiller, Leona Slaubaugh, and Irene Springer.

Al grew up in Delavan, IL. He was a 1957 graduate of Hesston Academy (Hesston, Kansas).

Al served at the Mennonite Vocational School for Orphans in South Korea (1959-1961) following the Korean War, training boys in various trades.

Al and Marilyn enjoyed 60 years together. They farmed in Lexington, Illinois for 10 years and for the last 50 years at Paxton, Illinois. They were a team and always worked side by side in farming and construction, serving their church, and raising their family. His greatest pride and joy were his kids and grandkids. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and was always looking for practical ways to support them.

Al was a great man of faith who made pursuing the Lord his daily habit. He was a member of the Dewey Community Church. He used his hands and the generosity of his heart to contribute to various church building and service projects.

Al loved people and was known as a man who worked and played hard. He loved farming and using his talents to build, remodel, and maintain his houses and apartments. He knew how to fix anything. He always took time for a yearly vacation and with his adventurous spirit loved to fish, ski, play games, and travel.
