Ann Catherine Dwyer

Ann Catherine Dwyer, 82, of Secor, Ill., died peacefully at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke, on September 5, 2025.
She was born November 28, 1942, in Scranton, Pa., the daughter of John and Genevieve Hayes McDade. She married Edward Dwyer in Scranton, Pa., on June 13, 1964. He died in 2005.
She is survived by her children, Patrick (Ann) Dwyer of Goodfield, Ill., Mike (Linda) Dwyer of Secor, Ill., and John (Haruko) Dwyer of Hanoi, Vietnam; grandchildren, Jordan (Kyle) Schaefer, Lauren (Kirk) Patton, Becca Dwyer, Liam Dwyer, Suzu Dwyer and Eddie Dwyer; great-grandchildren, Rowan, Harlee, Calvin, Kayce, and Quinn. She was the sister of the late John (Sonja) McDade, the late Joseph (Sarah) McDade, the late Mary Gene (late Bruce) Butler and the late Gingie (Joseph) Tuthill and sister-in-law to Kathy (Joe) Manley and the late Tess McDade. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; daughter, Colleen Dwyer; son, Kevin Dwyer; great-grandchildren, Henry and Evelyn. Ann was also a dear aunt, cousin and friend to many.
She received a Bachelor of Music from Marywood College and a Master's of English from Illinois State University. She was a teacher for many years at the grade and high school levels at St. Patrick's of Washington, Lowpoint-Washburn, and Shanghai American schools. She was the Choir Director and provided adult education services at St. Luke's Catholic Church for many years. She was active in the management of Dwyer Farms from its inception in 1975. She was also a member of the St. Teresa's Lay Ministries of Charities. Donations in her memory can be made to the
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Teresa's Lay Ministries of Charities.
She was a master gardener and had a lifelong love of living things. She loved hiking and camping and enjoyed racing sports cars. She loved music and the fine arts and was a multi-instrumentalist and talented singer. She was also a patron of the arts and sponsored artists and a number of orchestras. She was a world traveler and lived in China for five years.
Visitation will be Friday, September 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 13, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Eureka, starting with a visitation at 9 a.m. until the start of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Olio Township Cemetery.
