Barbara "Barb" (Kaup) Wahls
March 5, 1943 - April 12, 2024
Barbara "Barb" (Kaup) Wahls, was born on March 5, 1943, in Champaign, IL. She passed away peacefully at home on April 12, 2024, with her beloved husband Dick at her side. Barb had been battling Interstitial lung disease with pulmonary fibrosis. Barb was 81 years of age.
Barb and Dick were married September 18, 1965. They resided in Bloomington, IL for 44 years before moving to Normal in 2023. Barb worked at IAA/Country Financial for over 30 years before retiring in 2012.
They raised three wonderful children, that were her whole world: Rick (Becki), and grandchildren, JT and Aiden; Tony (Shannon), and grandchildren, Tyler and Sydney; and Suzanne (Adam) Kishel, and grandchildren, Blake and Kellan. She was a proud mother and grandmother.
She enjoyed visiting family, friends and spoiling her kids and grandchildren. She made sure to always cook their favorite dishes and called to sing "Happy Birthday" when they couldn't be together to celebrate the special day. She also leaves behind her feline "fur babies" Taylor and Bella that she loved very much.
Barb was predeceased by her father and mother Frank and Eileen, sister Pat Brown, Pat's husband Bob Brown, and her other sister's husband Homer Hamblin.
She is also survived by her sister, Rosalie Hamblin; and brother, Dave and his wife Kathy.
Barb will be remembered for her fierce love of family and fun spirit. She truly loved with an open heart and if she loved you, you knew it. She courageously fought her disease with dignity and strength until the very end.
In typical Barb fashion, she made it clear she didn't want any pomp and circumstance. She wanted to be surrounded by her loved ones and friends in a celebration of life that will occur with details to be determined.
