Brian Naber Obituary

Brian Niel Naber

July 27, 1949 - May 24, 2024

NORMAL - Surrounded by his family, Brian Niel "Moose" Naber, 74, peacefully passed away Friday, May 24, 2024, at his home in Normal, IL.

Brian was a Christ follower, devoted husband, loving father, fun-loving grandfather, and friend to many. Brian had a big heart and a very firm handshake. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to meet the needs of others.

Brian, along with his twin brother Mark, was born on July 27, 1949, in Teaneck, NJ, to Walter and Sigrid Naber. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1973 with a degree in Animal Science. It was at Mizzou where he met the love of his life, Elizabeth "Becky" Wills, in 1969. They were married on May 25, 1974, in Cape Girardeau, MO.

Brian was a member of Eastview Christian Church and served as a Group Leader for Bible Study Fellowship for many years. He was an award-winning salesman in the Animal Health and Ag-Chemical industries, known to many as "Captain Buctril." Brian was also a professional speaker/trainer and a business consultant. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, watching Purdue basketball games, serving on the board of the Northbridge Home Owners Association, gardening, and the Purple Martins that visited every summer.

Brian leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Becky Naber; daughter, Katie (Dr. Craig) Bowars, Bloomington, IL; son, Chris (Jessica) Naber, Louisville, KY; grandchildren: Caden Bowars, Chloe Bowars, Macy Naber, Will Naber; his brother, Dr. Michael (Mary) Naber, Grosse Pointe Park, MI; sisters: Virginia (Dave) Langlas, Billings, MT, Patricia (Lon) Morris, Roberts, MT; sisters-in-law: Connie (Charles) McCarthy, San Diego, CA, Stephanie Naber, Potomac Falls, VA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Mark Naber; sister, Harriet Carlyle; father-in-law Earl Wills, and mother-in-law, Loradean "Lori" Wills.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Eastview Chrisitan Church, Normal, IL, on Saturday, June 22, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bible Study Fellowship, 19001 Huebner Rd, San Antonio, TX, 78258; Eastview Christian Church, 1500 N. Airport Rd, Normal, IL, 61761; or Cornerstone Christian Academy, PO Box 1608, Bloomington, IL, 61702.

I was shocked to learn of Brian´s passing. He passed way too soon. Brian called on me as a salesman for several years. I know he was a Christian man because he treated me and everyone with respect and courtesy. He was funny and a pleasure to be around. He could make fun of himself and never took himself too seriously. He had a good business sense and could be all business when he needed to be. He was a good all around man and I am so sad that he is no longer with us. I feel so bad for Brian´s family. I know he will be greatly missed. Sorry I seem to be rambling but I want his family to know he was greatly respected in the ag chem industry - more so than any other one I knew.
Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Every attribute in the obituary perfectly described Brian. I was fortunate to serve alongside him in the Bloomington Men's BSF class. He was both a character and a man of character. He will be deeply missed by the leaders and those he led.
