LE ROY - Christopher (Chris) R. Wagner, of Le Roy, Ill., passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025 at the age of 61. Born in Yonkers, N.Y., on October 19, 1963, Chris spent his youth in Bloomington, Ind., before moving to Illinois as a young adult, settling in Le Roy. Chris had a 39-year career with Jewel Osco, retiring in 2024 as a Meat Department Manager.
Chris was driven by service to his community, with a passion for youth leadership development through the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). He exemplified the principles of Scout Law: Duty to God, Duty to Self, and Duty to Others. Chris held various leadership roles in local BSA organizations, including Committee Chair to Cub Pack 3950, Founding Member and Committee Chair of Troop 2018, and several district-level leadership positions. He earned the Wood Badge, the highest achievement level for Scout leaders. Chris was an active member of St. Mary's Parish in Downs, Ill.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife, Susan (Schaefer); and their son, Sam and daughter, Melody; his three sisters Ellen Miles, Nancy Smith, and Janine Wagner, and his two brothers, Brian Wagner and Carl Wagner.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 9, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home, 1104 N. Main St. in Bloomington, Ill. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Downs with interment following at Oak Grove Cemetery in Le Roy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to BSA Troop 2018, c/o First United Methodist Church, 201 N. Chestnut St., Le Roy, IL, 61752.
