David William Ferrenburg
Feb. 10, 1964 - March 11, 2024
EL PASO - David William Ferrenburg, 60, of El Paso, formerly of Danvers, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Carle Bromenn Medical Center in Normal.
He was born to Paul and Joan (Bratt) Ferrenburg in Bloomington, IL, on February 10, 1964. They preceded him in death.
Dave attended Olympia High School and Eureka College, where he has many fond memories of his dorm buddies on "Lower D."
One of Dave's greatest passions was coaching basketball. He coached Varsity Basketball for 14 years – three years at Springfield Ursuline and 11 years at El Paso High School. During that time, his teams won three conference championships and four regional championships. Dave also served as Athletic Director for El Paso-Gridley High School for 21 years and was a member of the EPG athletic boosters club. He was a man of integrity and was dedicated to the success and well-being of the school and his students.
Dave was an avid University of Michigan football fan and was thrilled that they won the NCAA Football Championship this past January. Go Blue!
He married Kelly (Meece) Eastman in Danvers on June 26, 2021. She survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Morgan Ferrenburg of Morton, and her mother, Susie Vincent of El Paso; and three stepdaughters: Anna, Caroline, and Olivia Eastman.
Dave loved his hometown of Danvers, and never forgot his roots. He had a servant's heart and took excellent care of his parents until their deaths. He will be remembered as a wonderful son, dad, husband, mentor, and friend. Dave will be deeply missed.
There will be a private funeral held Friday, March 15, 2024. Pastor Bob Clark will officiate. Dave will be buried at Park Lawn Cemetery in Danvers. There will be a visitation Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington.
