I met Dave two decades ago and remember him as a jovial, affectionate, accepting man. Seeing his photo pop up in my feed saddens me, and I'm sorry to his family. Clearly, he was very well loved.

"Saga Dave" was such a special part of the IWU community. It was always comforting to know, no matter what the school day threw at me, that he would be there to greet me at lunch or dinner with a friendly smile. It amazed me how he knew as all by name. A very special man who will be dearly missed.

I still remember you excitedly hosting a "Hill" night at Saga. I was homesick and a taste of home was just what I needed. Your smiling face could lighten any day.

David was one of the kindest men I've ever had the privilege of knowing. He didn't have an enemy and was a master of making you feel at home and like you were loved, even if you were a stranger. The world has suffered a great loss, but Heaven has indeed gained another angel. Until we meet again, friend. You made the world a better place!
