Donna Kagy Obituary

Donna Christine Kagy

March 14, 1956 - February 10, 2025

Donna Christine Kagy, 68, passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2025, at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO. Born on March 14, 1956, in Madison, WI, to her parents John and Marjorie (Gibson) Wing, Donna's life was a remarkable journey of love, resilience, and joy.

Donna attended Normal Community High School, Normal, IL, class of 1974. She married young and embraced motherhood with open arms, raising her beloved children, Nathan and Ricole, surrounded by family in Normal.

In 1984, Donna attended Flamingo Beauty Academy, where she became a certified beautician, and met the love of her life, Frederick Kagy, Jr. Their marriage, on June 28, 1985, was a celebration of love and family, as Fred lovingly took on the role of father to Nathan and Ricole. Donna and her children were deeply grateful for the love and peace Fred brought into their lives. This was the beginning of their love story.

Donna spent her days as a beautician, working at Hairport/Gentleman's Quarters where she made friends with countless clients and co-workers. Most would say Donna never met a stranger. After early retirement, she cared for Fred at home as his health declined, until he passed away in 2007.

Following her heart, Donna eventually moved to Bourbon, MO, to be closer to her daughter, Ricole and granddaughters, Fredrica and Lilah. She spent every day spoiling her grandchildren and made no apologies for it. Her laughter and approachability left an impression with everyone she met in her new community.

Donna was an ardent fan of the Green Bay Packers, a loyalty that traced back to her Wisconsin roots. Her interests were diverse and brought her immense happiness. From holiday shopping sprees to family vacations at Fair Hills in Minnesota, from golfing with friends to tending her gardens, Donna cherished every moment. Her and Fred's home was their canvas, and Donna undertook remodeling projects with enthusiasm and a keen eye for beauty. Their favorite memories were made swimming in their pool.

A lover of music, Donna found joy in the timeless songs of The Beatles, often humming along to their tunes. She had a penchant for the simple pleasures in life, like sipping on Dr. Pepper and indulging in Godiva chocolate. Yet above all, it was her precious granddaughters, Freddie and Lilah, who were the true delights of her life. Donna adored them beyond measure, and the time spent with her granddaughters was treasured.

Donna is survived by her beloved children, Nathan Schultz of Forest Park, IL and Ricole Schultz of Bourbon, MO; two granddaughters, Fredrica "Freddie" and Lilah Schultz-Ware, both of Bourbon; a brother, Stanley Wing and wife, Lisa of Bloomington, IL; nieces and nephews, Matthew Wing and wife, Nicole of Bloomington, IL, Kalee Lytras and husband, George of Naperville, IL, and Lucas Wing and wife, Natalie of Normal, IL; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Kagy, Jr.; and her parents, John and Marjorie (Gibson) Wing.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Monday, March 17, 4 to 6 p.m., at Kibler-Brady Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL. Cremation has taken place.

I´m so sorry to hear of Donna´s passing.
I worked with Donna at Hairport, many years ago.
She was a delight to work with, always had a smile.
She would host and organize the Mystery Game dinners at her house for coworkers and husbands. Such good times.
Condolences to her family.
