Doris D. Ipsen

BLOOMINGTON - Doris D. Ipsen, 94 of Bloomington, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the Arc of Normal.

Doris was born in April of 1931, in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, the daughter of Vernon E. and Leona M. (Frey) Dahlstrom. She married Carl Ipsen in March of 1951, in Racine, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death in May of 2003.

Doris is survived by her children, Steven (Lisa) Ipsen, Arizona, Julie (David) Wilson, Arizona, David (Ann) Ipsen, Colorado, Beth (Martin) Walsh, Illinois, Paul (Barb) Ipsen, Illinois and Cathy (Kevin) Herrmann, New Hampshire. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Carolynne (Brian) Scott, Stephanie (Doug) Connor, Amy Wilson, Zachary (Rachel) Wilson, Todd (Emily) Ipsen, Caleb Walsh, Cassie (Keith) Ramsey, Candi (Ryne) Paxton, Sierra Herrmann, and Haley Herrmann and 11 great-grandchildren, Alex (Claire) Scott, Kaitlyn Scott, Declan Connor, Isla Wilson, Cedar Ipsen, Oakley Ipsen, Kylie Ramsey, Jackson Ramsey, Logan Ramsey, Aiden Paxton, Gage Paxton. She was preceded by her parents (Vernon and Leona Dahlstrom), husband (Carl Ipsen), her sister (LaVerne Smith), and grandson (Jeff Ipsen).

She worked and retired from Heritage Enterprises in 2003 after 50 years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Bloomington in which she was very active and volunteered for any help the church needed. Doris loved working in the yard with her flowers and plants and enjoyed painting ceramics, Doris loved spending time with her family. She was an integral part in their lives, including her children, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She loved and enjoyed every moment she spent with them.

Doris will be deeply missed by all her family and friends who knew and loved her.

The memorial service for Doris Ipsen will be Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bloomington, Illinois. Pastor Lyn Kern and Pastor David Glesne will officiate. Following the service, inurnment will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church Columbarium. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the church on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Youth Ministry or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
