Ernest Frederick "Fred" Lamkey

January 3, 1948 - May 8, 2025

Ernest Frederick Lamkey, "Fred", 77, of Bloomington, Ill., passed away on May 8, 2025. Fred was born on January 3, 1948, the son of Ernest and Alice Lamkey. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1966. After high school he continued his education at Illinois State University and graduated in 1971 with a degree in Agricultural Education.

Fred had an extensive banking career which spanned four decades. Among the banks he served were Walnut State Bank, Danvers State Bank, Sullivan Indiana State Bank, Flora Bank and Trust, State Bank of Paw Paw and Henry State Bank where he spent most of his banking career. He was also a correspondent banker for Illinois Bankers Bank.

Fred is survived by his wife, Ann; and his brother, Dick (Nita) Lamkey. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Kathryn Lamkey. His children are Jason (Laura Carley) Lamkey, Melodie (Pam Zuspann) Lamkey, Brandon (Krista) Lamkey; and his stepchildren are Marianne (Will Breckenfeld) Albin, David Albin, Nancy (Guido Piccarolo) Albin. He is also survived by eight grandchildren. Fred and Ann were married for twenty years, and they blended their families when they got married.

Fred was an avid Bears fans and enjoyed cheering on the Fighting Illini. He relished winning at bridge and played it often at the ARC center in Normal, Ill. He belonged to First Presbyterian Church and participated in many activities there.

A celebration of life will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday July 12, 2025, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Home Sweet Home Ministries or First Presbyterian Church of Normal, Ill.
