Gladys Ehresman Obituary
December 10, 1922 - November 23, 2025
Gladys Darlene Ehresman, 102, of Gridley, went to be with her Savior on Sunday, November 23rd at The Village of Mercy Creek, Normal, Ill.
Gladys was born December 10, 1922, on the family farm in Waldo Township, Livingston County, Flanagan, Ill., the fourth child of Sam and Bertha Zehr Eigsti.
She married Roy Ehresman on August 29, 1945. He died March 8, 1995. Gladys and Roy lived on the Ehresman farm northwest of Gridley for most of their married life.
She is survived by her daughter, Regina (Jeff) Yordy, North Palm Beach, Fla., her son, Brent (Marcia) Ehresman, Fairborn, Ohio, and her daughter-in-law, Beth Ehresman, Gridley, Ill. Her son, Barry, preceded her in death on October 17, 2009. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Kim (Adam) Perez, Chad (Tiffany) Ehresman, Nikki (Jonathan) Hughes, Kristie (Damien) Solomon, Sherry (Nick) Rohler, Justin (Megan) Ehresman, Brian Ehresman, Rebekah (Michael) Mounce and Jennifer (Blake) Plattner; and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and son, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and four sisters.
After graduating from Flanagan High School, Gladys attended Illinois State University and graduated with a two-year teaching degree. Later, she obtained her four-year teaching degree. She taught school for more than 20 years, mainly kindergarten, in Gridley. In her final years at Gridley, she was the grade school librarian.
Gladys was a member of Prairieview Mennonite Church, Flanagan/Gridley, where her funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025 with a visitation an hour prior. Pastor Brian Veeder and Rev. Jane Thorley Roeschley will officiate. Burial will be in Waldo Township Cemetery. Visitation will also be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 5, at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, El Paso.

Gladys was not only my kindergarten teacher. The day my parents brought me home from the adoption center she came to our door. About 20 minutes after my parents got home with me she was going door to door taking census count. My parents welcomed her in to see their new addition to the family. Many times she reminded me of this. She was a wonderful person. Always had a smile on her face.
