Eleanor Marion Ehresman, age 96, a beloved resident of Rome, NY for 31 years and lived in Taberg, NY for the past 2 1/2 years with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. She passed away peacefully at Rome Hospital on January 13th, 2025.
Eleanor was originally from Queens, NY. She was born a twin on June 29th, 1928, in Jersey City, Hudson County, alongside her twin sister, Lydia Surdi Ehresman, to Rosalia Celauro Surdi and Amedeo Surdi from Sicily, Italy who arrived in NY on January 11th, 1920 and was given their citizenship on January 23th, 1928.
She was married to Phillip Henry Ehresman on April 12th, 1947, for 43 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Phillip Henry Ehresman since August 25th, 1990; her parents Rosalia Celauro Surdi and Amedeo Surdi, and her twin sister, Lydia Surdi Ehresman and brother-in-law, Frank Ehresman; and two brothers, Victor Surdi and Ray Surdi.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Elizabeth Gervasi and her husband, Patrick Gervasi of Ridgewood, Queens, NY; Roseann Ehresman Knutti and her husband, Randal Scott Knutti of Taberg, NY; her two cherished granddaughters, Laura Gervasi, Philleen Gervasi Lipnicki and her husband, Tod Lipnicki; her beloved grandson, Travis Scott Knutti; her four great grandchildren, Jasmine Walker and her partner, Louis "L-Trayne" Morgan, Jade Gervasi and her partner, William Brouard, Faith Tsentner, Zachary Tsentner; and her two great, great grandchildren, Julius and Sasha; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Eleanor brought warmth and kindness to everyone she met. She loved cooking, baking, sewing, playing cards, reading, and doing puzzles along with spending time with her family when she could.
Her funeral will be handled by Barry Funeral Home of Rome, NY, and per her wishes, will be taken to Riverhead, LI at the Calverton National Cemetery to be laid to rest with her beloved husband. The Service will be at 12 Noon on Friday, February 21, 2025. Following her funeral service, a luncheon will be held at J & R Steakhouse in Riverhead, LI at 2 PM.
