Helen Leake Obituary
September 8, 1932 - May 29, 2025
LEXINGTON - Helen Jean Leake, 92, of Lexington, died on May 29, 2025 at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
Helen was born September 8, 1932, to Warren and Clara (Schneider) Dodson. She married Melvin Leake on March 8, 1952. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are her brother, Dick Dodson of Bloomington; her children, Teri, Angie, Tim (Debbie), Bridget (Denny), Stuart, and Kristine (Todd); thirteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Helen graduated from Lexington High School and attended Illinois Wesleyan University. She spent her working years at General Electric in Bloomington and Kemps True Value Hardware Store in Lexington.
She was a 4-H leader and 4-H fair judge. Helen was a master gardener. With her knowledge, she served as a panel member of WJBC Radio's Garden Show and also wrote garden tips for various publications and local newspapers.
Per Helen's wishes, her body was donated to medical science, and there will be no public services held. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be left to a charity of the donor's choice.
