Janet Devore Obituary

Janet (Tarmann) Devore

December 27, 1942 - March 18, 2025

Janet (Tarmann) Devore, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025 at the age of 82.

Janet grew up in Toluca, Ill. and graduated from Toluca High School in 1961. She married the love of her life, Jim Devore, on December 7, 1963, and together they built a lifetime of cherished memories together.

Janet had a warm and generous spirit, always putting others first. She had a great sense of humor and loved making those around her laugh. She loved playing cards, games and putting puzzles together.

For many years, Janet and Jim spent their winters in Texas before eventually making it their home. They built many dear friendships at Encore Sunshine RV Resort, where she found happiness in the community she loved. Above all, Janet adored her family and treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Janet is survived by her devoted husband, James Devore; her loving daughters, Julie Devore, Jodie Buescher, and Jamie (Jay) Schweitzer; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene Robinson and brother, Larry (Carol) Tarmann.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Sue (Swartz) Tarmann; brother, Wayne (Rita) Tarmann; and brother-in-law, Jim Robinson.

A celebration life will be planned at a later date.

I´m a former neighbor of Janet and Jim in normal , I´ll. Janet and I walked many miles together early in the morning! My sincere sympathy to Jim and the girls! Janet always had a smile no matter what life brought ! They moved long before I did, but missed her when they left. She was a special friend!

Dear Jim and family,

We are so very sorry to learn of the loss of Janet. She was a wonderful lady and will certainly be missed. We remember so many fun times together over the years while our children were growing up and of course all the many stories when the two of you went on so very may band trips with the girls. Love and prayers Denny and Jan Fries

I was so saddened to hear of Janet's passing...We hadn't seen each other for years, but have memories that go way back, since our mothers were sisters...My condolences to Jim, the family and the many who loved her.

Many years ago Janet was the childcare provider for my children. She went over and beyond the role of a babysitter and provided them a warm and loving home while I was at work. She was an extremely kind and caring person, and I was blessed to have known her.
