Jeffrey Alan Luhring
July 20, 1955 - Feb. 6, 2024
PALMETTO, Florida - Jeffrey Alan Luhring, 68, of Palmetto, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
Jeff was born on July 20, 1955, to Ruth and Harold Luhring in Lincoln, IL. After Jeff graduated from Bloomington High School (1973), he went on to study Physical Education at Illinois Wesleyan University (1977) before finishing his academic pursuits at Palmer College of Chiropractic (1981).
During his time at Palmer, Jeff and Sherry co-owned several Nautilus Fitness Clubs alongside several other Peoria area chiropractors. After graduating from Palmer with a degree in chiropractic care, he started his practice in Peoria, IL, thus continuing to pursue his lifelong passion of physical fitness and health.
In 1967, Jeff met Sherry by happenstance at a local church event when they were both 12 years old. Many years later, after falling in love, Jeff and Sherry, went on to have five children, Adam Luhring, Annie (Luhring) Evelsizer, Austin Luhring, Abbey (Luhring) Wester, and Alex Luhring.
After many decades together with their lives spanning between Illinois and Minnesota, Jeff and Sherry relocated to Florida in mid 2023, embarking on a new adventure that brought them closer to sunshine, palm trees and ocean views. During their time in Florida, Jeff loved watching football while relaxing on their lanai, honing his skills on the pickleball court, making new friends, walking on the beach with Sherry, and generally embracing life in sunny Palmetto.
Jeff was predeceased by Ruth (Ghilain) Luhring and Harold Luhring of Bloomington, IL. He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry; his five children and their spouses; 14 grandchildren; and his sister, Lou Cabeen (Seattle).
A private family memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Bayside Community Church in Parrish, FL, where his family, friends, and loved ones will celebrate his life and memory.
