Jimmy Allen "Jimbo" Harpster, Sr., 77, of Lake Charles, La., formerly of Bloomington, Ill., passed away December 4, 2024, at his family home.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Weldon Cemetery, Weldon, Ill. with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Ill. is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans.

Jimmy was born June 10, 1947, in Bloomington Ill., the son of Ravis Henry and Louise Florence (Fogler) Harpster. He married Mary Stone June 9, 1979, in Weldon, Ill.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Lea Stone Harpster; mother, Louise Harpster of Normal, Ill.; son, Jimmy Allen Harpster, Jr. (Brooklyn Miller) of Sulphur, La.; daughter; Tina Ann Robinson (Patrick) of Chuckey, Tenn.; grandson, Braylon Keith Harpster; step-granddaughter, Jailyn Miller; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ravis Henry Harpster; grandfather, Henry Harpster; brothers, Ravis and Jerry Harpster; aunt, Mary "Dolly" Frazier; uncles, Tresmer Miller and Marion Harpster.

Jimmy was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He spent his tour of duty overseas in the 313 Radio Reconnaissance Division and was Honorably discharged at the rank of E-5. He was a 46-year member of the American Legion Post 370 of Westlake, La.; a 45-year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1 of Lake Charles, La.; and a four-year member of the Forty & Eight Organization while residing in Bloomington, Ill.

Jimmy was a route salesman for Breen Beverages of Bloomington, Ill. for 13 years, as well as a Union Steward for the Teamsters during his employment years there.
