Now with nice weather and holidays arriving, I can still picture John and his wife driving their antique car in parades. I remember John playing in the Danvers Community Band. Always met me with a smile! Though he's gone, he's still here. Cruising the backroads of my mind.

I remain MISSING our beloved John Detweiler. How can one forget a life time friend of life all these 71 years for me. John had known me when I was first born. He was more than a friend of family, but a true BROTHER on this earth. I remember my parents every Friday evening after my Poppa,Herman Schweizer (and Donna) finished reading the evening Pantagraph Newspaper and then watching the News coverage through Walter Conkrite News, it was time to go get our weekly eggs and be with Herman and Loretta Detweiler for the entire evening. Sitting around, laughing, talking and watching GOMER PYLE TV SHOW. Their dog SUZY, their yellow fuffly cat, 'PUFFY', and I was so alergic to Puffy as became 'Asthma' around a cat, but PUFFY loved getting up on my lap, purring loudly, as he SNUGGLED in my lap on Friday evenings.
I remember JOHN when he and Jackie became engaged - JOHN was so in love with Jackie, he had hit the JACKPOT for his life, he was beyond HAPPY.
I use to climb as a child, the large tree next to their house and sit way up in that tree. And I would always sit down in front of their house on their gravel road watching the sun going down with Suzy their dog next to me.
I will always MISS my brother JOHN.
An empty spot in my heart and my life.
As I still with tears in my eyes - I remember JOHN one year later.
I miss you John.

Our beloved John. So many precious memories contained in my thoughts. John was more than a friend to my heart, he was a true brother in my heart. I came to know John after I was first born in this world. My mother and father, Herman and Donna Schweizer, became close friends with John's father and mother, Herman and Loretta. John being 10 years older than myself became a 'brother' in that friendship.
I remember when John was dating Jackie. He was so happy and so filled with love for her. I remember him telling us 'I found the perfect one for me'. He loved Jackie.
We spent EVERY friday evening at the Detweiler farm. Gathering around in the dining area with Loretta's sister and husband, and Wendall and Clara LaBounty, and Aunt Lou. Saturday evenings we would be seen at Danvers Park listening to the Band Concert.
Watching Walter Conkrite on the News, and Gomer Pyle.
Susy their precious dog, Puffy their kitty, and Chipper their pet chipmunk. Susy and I would take long walks and watch the sun set on the west side of the farm. Puffy would always climb up in my lap to take her nap.
So many memories of being together with 'FAMILY'.
I will forever MISS my 'brother' in life, John.

I called and spoke to John the last time on Monday, May 9th... He did not sound 'right' and I asked John 'Please John go to the Emergency as something does not sound right'... Our last words on that phone call were 'I love you John' and he said back to me 'I love you too Janey'...
I still want to call him and see if he is okay.
I will miss him. He has always been a 'brother' in my heart.
