Judith A. "Judy" Bennington, 84, of Bloomington, Ill., passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025 at Martin Health Center in Bloomington, Ill.
She was born August 3, 1941 in Bloomington, Ill., to Arthur and Pearl (Luwanski) Gangister. She married Baron "Barry" Bennington on November 28, 1959 in Minonk, Ill. He survives.
Also surviving are her son, Adam (Tiffany) Bennington of Bloomington, lll., two daughters, Audrey (David) Corrington of Bloomington, Ill., and April (Jon Williams) Bennington of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Alex, Logan and Nick.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Claire.
Judy graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor's degree in education. She became a teacher and taught at MDR and Fieldcrest Jr. High Schools. She was a member of Illinois Educators Association, Hands All Around Quilt Guild of Central Illinois, Nation Education Association, and M.D.R.E.A.
She was a member of St. Patrick Church in Minonk, Ill., its Altar Society, and was a Lector for the church.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025 at St. Patrick Church in Minonk, Ill. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at church. Burial of her ashes will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Minonk, Ill. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Filger Library in Minonk, Ill. Tributes and condolences may be made at ruestmanharrisfuneralhome.com.

I am so very sorry to hear about Judy´s passing. She was such a kind person and was a big help to me when I first started teaching English at FHS. She helped shape so many young lives with her willingness to go far above expectations and her love of children. She left quite a legacy. My sincere condolences to the family.
