EUREKA - Lonny Eugene "Lon" Kupferschmid, 78, of Eureka, passed away at 2:15 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at his home.
Lon was born on March 13, 1945, in Baton Rouge, LA, to Wayne and Laura Bachtold Kupferschmid. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ed Kupferschmid; sister, Loretta (late Alan) Leman; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Peters.
He is survived by four daughters: Kim (Tim) Getz, Kalene (Chad) Kloter, Kylee Pelle, Kate Kupferschmid (Nate); one son, Brent (Mandy) Kupferschmid; brother, Tom (Sherri) Kupferschmid; sister, Phyllis (Chris) Miller; sister, Beverly (late Jimmy) Peters; sister-in-law, Donna (late Ed) Kupferschmid; 15 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Lon served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. For many years, he worked as a supervisor at Caterpillar. He did metal work making custom parts and taught welding and metal work. He enjoyed fishing for catfish. Most of all, he was a loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
Lon was a member of the Apostolic Christian Faith Church in Eureka, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Church Ministers will officiate. Visitation will also be held from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
