Louis Todaro Obituary

Louis "Louie" Todaro

April 13, 1939 - Nov. 24, 2023

HUNTLEY - Louis "Louie" Todaro, 84 of Huntley, IL, passed away at 6:35 a.m. at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL.

Louie was born on April 13, 1939 in Vizzini, Catania, Sicily, Italy, to Anthony and Maria (Castello) Todaro. Louie arrived in the United States as a young child. He married Dina Cuva on July 12, 1969.

Louie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dina (Cuva) Todaro of Huntley, IL; his three children: a son, Anthony (Melissa) Todaro of Bloomington, IL, and their three children: Elizabeth, Megan, and Hailey; a daughter, Karen (Bryan) Lodewyck of Lake in the Hills, IL, and their two children: Tyler, and Ava; his son, Michael (Kristy) Todaro of Bloomington, IL, and their two children: Nicholas, and Alissa. Also surviving are his siblings: Nancy (Thomas) LaPorte, Josephine Distel, and Sam Todaro. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, John Distel, Sr.

He persevered and worked relentlessly to achieve the American dream and provide opportunities to his family that were not available in Italy. He was proud to put his children through college and instilled a strong work ethic in them. Louie was a very patriotic person who was proud to have served in the US Army. As a proud member of IUEC Local #2, he enjoyed a lengthy career in the elevator industry.

Louie embodied a great personality that drew people to him. His grin, laugh, and sense of humor quickly turned acquaintances into treasured friends. Over the years, he enjoyed golf cart rides, softball games, bocce ball matches, and simply hanging out in his garage with neighborhood friends. Family was always important and above all, Louie cherished his grandchildren. He loved seeing and hearing about all their games, tournaments, performances, plays, scouts, and recitals. He was proud to know they tried their best.
