Michael John Flynn, 82, of Bloomington, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Loft in Normal.

A Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bloomington, with Rev. Steven Loftus and Rev. Michael Schaab officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials or donations may be made to Winning With Wyatt, supporting pediatric brain tumor research, or Holy Trinity Church.

Mike was born on March 30, 1943, in Bloomington, the son of John A. and Margaret Delmar Flynn. He married Jerrilyn Hauptman at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bloomington, on January 8, 1966. She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Brian (Jesse) Flynn, Jeff (Ana) Flynn, Jennie (Tom) Hoekstra, and Kevin (Maegan) Flynn; ten grandchildren, Parker, Riley and Dylan Flynn, Celeste Flynn, Harrison, Graham, Lily and Carter Hoekstra, and Seamus and Nicola Flynn; two sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Flynn and Kathleen "Curly" Flynn; two sisters-in-law, Irene Flynn and Mary Jo Flynn; a brother-in-law, David (Lisa) Dunn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and Jerrilyn's parents, Martin and Velma Hauptman; a son, Daniel Flynn; his uncle, Rev. Fr. George T. Flynn; a sister, Anne Flynn Dunn; five brothers, George Flynn, Thomas Flynn, Patrick Flynn, James Flynn and Timothy Flynn; and a brother-in-law, Marty Hauptman.

Mike graduated from Trinity High School in 1961 and St. Ambrose University in 1967. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served for two years. He received his law degree from John Marshall Law School in 1970. He practiced law in Bloomington for 13 years, first in the Illinois States Attorney's Office and then as a defense attorney in private practice. In 1985 he began his commercial real estate career for 35 years.

Mike was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who lived his life faithfully and generously gave of himself to family, friends and his community. He loved traveling and family vacations, quality time with friends and family, and supporting the many activities, sports and endeavors of his children and grandchildren.
