Patricia McIntyre Obituary

Patricia S. McIntyre

Sept. 30, 1934 - Nov. 11, 2020

BLOOMINGTON - Patricia S. McIntyre, 86, of Bloomington, passed away at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the services for Patricia will be private. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate. To express condolences online, please visit www.carmodyflynn.com.

She was born September 30, 1934 in St. Louis, MO, daughter of William and Maurine Gratz Selig. She married Earl L. McIntyre on April 23, 1954.

Surviving are her husband, Earl, Bloomington; daughter, Debbie Nord, Bloomington and son, Tim McIntyre, Austin, TX. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Melissa (Tom) Waterson, Matthew (Missy) Nord, Mike (Emily) Nord and Allen McIntyre and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Dr. Harold Nord and her brother, William Selig.

Patricia enjoyed her time as owner and operator of her antique store, Pat's Little Corner in Bloomington. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved the St. Louis Cardinals as well as the ISU Redbirds.

Pat had an infectious spirit of kindness and compassion. Most of all she loved people. Anyone who called her friend, which was potentially anyone she encountered, experienced her genuine interest, desire to help, and deep affection.

Pat was a loving and devoted wife to Earl for 66 years. It was a rare thing to see them apart, and their love for one another was a joy to behold.

Pat was an amazing mom and the absolute best Nanny a grandchild could hope for.

Pat in her quiet wisdom would remind us in our grief the truth of her favorite Bible verse: "Soon, he will wipe away every tear from our eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."

Debbie and family,
I am completely heartbroken for all of you. I really enjoyed getting to know your mom when she would visit your dad every day at MHC. Seeing the two of them together and the love that they shared was so special. Your dad was always looking forward to her visits and would just wait for her to come down the long hallway. I was truly blessed to know her. I am so very sorry for your loss. Many prayers lifted up for you all.

So many memories have been flooding since I first read that Pat had passed away last week. Our 35 year history together covered so many life events. She was part mentor, part advisor, occasional counselor and revered mother-in-law. The subsequent relationship she and Mac developed with my parents was both unique and very special.

Mother asked that I pass along her condolences to your entire family.

I will always cherish the wonderful memories of fun, laughter, Third Sunday Market visits and White Castles we shared.

Debbie, I had the pleasure of knowing your mom through Westminster Village, and I am so honored to have been of service to her and your dad. You and your family are in my prayers and my heart.
