Robert "Rob" William Laughlin
April 30, 1957 - March 1, 2024
PEORIA - Robert "Rob" William Laughlin, 66, of Peoria, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born on April 30, 1957, in Lincoln, IL, the son of William and Patricia (Babbitt) Laughlin.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister, Sheryl Anne Laughlin.
Rob is survived by his sister, Deborah (Steven) Winter; two nieces: Erin (Chad) Keefe of Normal, Christina (Steve) Rustemeyer of Bloomington; two nephews: Timothy (Kelly) Winter of Bloomington, and Scott (Ashley) Winter of Davenport, IA. He is also survived by nine great-nieces and great-nephews: William and Delaney Keefe, Andrew, Tyler and Allison Rustemeyer, Mackenzie and Jocelyn Winter and August and Amelia Winter.
Rob was born with cerebral palsy but that didn't stop him. He was home schooled through the eight grade and then went to Lincoln Community High School graduating with the class of 1975. He was an avid sports fan rooting for "the Cubbies," the Bears and his parents' alma mater, Penn State. He lived with his parents the majority of his life and after their passing he moved to a group home with the EPIC organization, where he made many friends and had the time of his life. He was a genuinely happy soul, enjoyed meeting new people and never knew a stranger.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the caregivers at EPIC. Thank you for the loving care you provided while he lived there.
Memorials may be made to EPIC of Peoria.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.

My condolences to the family. What a lovely obituary. I met Rob once with his mother at Bickford House. He was so loved. He had a lot to share. He had a good life! Thank you to all who helped him enjoy it to the fullest.
