Roger Hodel Obituary
November 28, 1942 - February 17, 2025
Roger Walter Hodel, 82, of Roanoke, Ill., passed away on Monday evening February 17, 2025, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
He was born on November 28, 1942, in Peoria, Ill., to Ralph and Thelma Fehr Hodel. He married Elaine Kempf on August 26, 1962, in Eureka, Ill.
Surviving is his wife, Elaine Hodel; one daughter, Marilyn (Jeff) McClure; one son, Dan (Justine) Hodel; one sister, Sharon Neukomm; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Adrian) Hernandez; Austin (Rachel) McClure; Clint (Emily Moses) McClure; Codee (Joel) Keever; Jordan (Anna) Hodel; Maddie (Kolton) Merritt; Grant (Elissa) Hodel; Sam (Carrie) Hodel; and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Larry Neukomm.
A graduate of Roanoke-Benson High School class of 1960, Roger was a livestock and grain farmer, farming in the Roanoke area all his life.
He was always willing to give of his time and skills and served his community on the Roanoke-Benson Unit #60 Board of Education, the Roanoke Farmers Grain Coop Elevator board, and the Illinois and Woodford County Pork Producers boards.
Roger's greatest joy was his family, and he especially enjoyed going and supporting his grandchildren in all of their activities. He loved to visit with people and enjoyed sharing conversation with anyone.
He was a member of Liberty Bible Church in Eureka where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday February 26, 2025. Pastors Tom Zobrist and Dan Waller will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday both at Liberty Bible Church. Burial graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the Roanoke Township Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Bible Church or the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke. Condolences and tributes may be sent to the family at knappjohnsonharris.com.
