Ruth Elaine (Bowman) Fry

GROVELAND - Ruth Elaine (Bowman) Fry passed away at 1:07 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2024, at her home. She came into this world on December 1, 1943, in Rock Island, IL. She was the third child of Cleo and Cennie (Graham) Bowman.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Marilyn and Doris. She is survived by her husband, Ronnie; sons: Douglas (Patty) of Columbia, IL and Daniel (Courtney) of Mackinaw; seven grandchildren: Camden, Garett, Christopher, Jack, Luke, Reed and Sloane; and one brother, Kenneth (Marvena) Bowman of Mason, IL.
She spent her early years in Edgewood, IL, where she lived on a farm. She loved to ride horses. She graduated from Effingham high school in 1961. She worked at Country Life and Steak "n" Shake as an accountant. Ruth and Ronnie were married in 1963 and spent 60 wonderful years together. Ruth enjoyed bowling, square dancing, golfing and making her square dancing outfits.
Her Funeral Service will be at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr, Pekin, IL. A visitation will be one hour prior from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Frankeberger Cemetery, Ellsworth, IL. Ruth's family would like to thank Dr. Michael Honan and his staff, Kyle's Health Care, and Pat Taylor for their help with Ruth's care.

I was a classmate of Ruth's and we both graduated from Effingham High School in 1961. I was unaware that she lived in Pekin, Ill. In high school I remember her as a wonderful classmate.
