Surena Fish Obituary
November 16, 1947 - January 22, 2025
Surena Jane Fish was the eldest daughter of George and Verba Fish. She is survived by her daughter Mignonne Fish, nieces and nephews Alecia Knight, Shane Murphy, Andy, Joey and Emily Fish, sister Judy Haney, brother George Fish, and now rests with her sister Linda Richard's. Surena was born and raised in Bloomington, graduating from Bloomington High School in 1965. She returned to Bloomington to retire after a 30+ year career in the textile industry in Los Angeles, CA. She was active in Bloomington community affairs, dedicating time to attending city council meetings and voter registration. Services will be held at a later date in Ramsey, IL.

Surena was an amazing human. I met her at Alley Cats my Dad Hugo and Uncle Arturo were frequent visitors who became friends. When my Dad was in the hospital she came and gave asked him what he wanted to eat and brought it to him. Also when my Unlce Arturo was in his final stages of cancer she would bring him brownies. She was a very nice person who could take a joke and she would always want to know what I had been up to

It's been a long time since we grew up in the State St. and Eastholme neighborhood but I remember her well. Please accept my sympathies for the loss of Surena.

I am so sorry to hear of Surena´s passing. She was a tireless community activist and volunteer. I served with her as a charter member of the Public Safety and Community Relations Board where she represented the community as an outspoken member. We will miss her greatly!

Surena was one of the kindest, albeit honest, people I knew. We saw each other at the polling places, city council meetings, and The Black Butterfly, previously Alley Cats. She was one of a kind and had a heart of gold. She will be missed. My condolences to her family.

I enjoyed working with Serena as an election judge. She was always so pleasant to work with and so knowledgeable about election rules. I shall miss her at this next election. May God give you comfort, strength and peace.
