Besides being a heart throb that many school girls idolized, including this one in the mid 60s, Bill Kennedy was my first model for teaching science inquiry. I of course had my mind on other things in sixth grade at Ben Funk School, but after having been trained for science education & having taught biology for 30 years, I now look back & realize that Mr Kennedy was effectively using inquiry techniques. I remember being a bit frustrated because he didn´t spoon feed us the answers to questions, but encouraged us to think, not easily done at that age, but definitely time to start doing so. I thank him deeply for opening my brain to new dimensions.
While substitute teaching at Heyworth High briefly in the 80s, I ran into him & enjoyed a pleasant conversation, and again at a Ben Funk School reunion. I wish I had thanked him more thoroughly for guiding our young brains toward thoughtful citizenship.

We watched Bill pitch many a game with the Hearts years ago. My grandparents were Jim and Margaret Day. So very sorry to hear of Bill's passing.
