Colleen Hartsock Obituary

Colleen May Hartsock died on June 5, 2012 at California Park Rehabilitation Hospital in Chico, CA.
Colleen was born Nov. 8, 1928 in San Jose, CA to Clarence Ford and Gladys Cole.
She was educated in public schools.

She married George Kiloh in 1944 at 19 years old. Wayne Kiloh was born on Feb. 15, 1948. She divorced in 1949 and was remarried to William P. Hartsock in 1950. He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1998.

She worked for Pacific Bell for 25 years and retired in 1978, she was known to everyone there as Grandma.
Bill and Colleen lived in Oakland until they retired and the bought a house in Paradise in the 80s.

Mom worked as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for 25 yrs and for Hospice for 11 years.
Bill and Colleen were avid bowlers and had many friends they bowled with.

Mom was also a Giants fan who was a 20 year season ticket holder. She was a Giants fan right up to the day she passed and they won that day.

She had various nicknames such as "Cookie, Socks, Twig or Twiggy and Bing Bing."
Everyone who knew her was blessed by her generosity and willingness to help anyone in their time of need.
She loved cats and her favorite breed was Manx.

In 2006, things changed dramatically when she was diagnosed with a childhood cancer disease that only boys get. An operation on her left leg left her bedridden until her death.

Mom was a fighter and always handled her disabilities with courage and grace. Her genuine friends always rallied around her giving love and encouragement. There is a Facebook page in her name that friends may leave memories and pictures.
