Ernst "Ernie" Dejak

1921 - 2007

Ernst "Ernie" Dejak, 86, of Paradise, CA passed away at his home on Friday, March 9. He was born in Yugoslavia on New Year's Day, 1921 and relocated to Germany in 1937. Ernie immigrated from Germany to the United States in 1952 and enjoyed several successful career pursuits including owning a landscape business and was also an accomplished butcher for many years.

He had many interests in life including dancing, playing cards, and was an avid music fan. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and skiing. As a hobby, Ernie enjoyed collecting and building clocks. An active member of the community, he was a member of Club Edelweiss, the Elks, and was a contributor to St. Jude's Children's Research Foundation. Ernie has been a longtime Paradise resident and loved the Ridge.

He is survived by his wife, Lore Dejak, niece Lori Kelly, nephews Jim Kunz and Ernest Dejak, grandnieces, grandnephews, in addition to numerous stepchildren and stepgrandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 11am on March 14, 2007. A celebration of life will be held at The Plantation Clubhouse following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Paradise Hospice.
