David Randal Bishop Sr., 78, of Cardwell, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021.
He was born Feb. 20, 1943, to Arlender and Vivion Bishop. David was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. David was an avid sports fan, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. He coached and played softball for many years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards and other outdoor activities. David served his community as mayor of Cardwell and Alderman of the South Ward.
David was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Danny Bishop.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Ann Bishop; sons, Tim McClish (Shelia), David R. Bishop Jr. (Sharon), Joseph Wayne Bishop and Jason Bishop (Teresa); daughters, Lisa Hopper (Billy) and Jeana Crawford; brothers, Jerry Mac Bishop Sr. and Harry Bishop (Sharon); sisters, Barbara June Detring and Shirley Rose Goode (Clemuel); grandchildren, Evan, Connor, Jackson, Brandon, Jessica, Corey, April, Sam, Rebecca, Blake, Lacey, Sara, Ashley, Amy, Richard and Alicia; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends today, Oct. 23, from 2 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. with David Stallings officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Cardwell Cemetery.
Brandon Bishop, David Ray, Connor Bishop, Jackson Bishop, Derek Lancaster and Sam Leisure will serve as pallbearers.
