Herman Weber Obituary

Herman Ray Weber - 10/19/1941 - 1/8/2025

Herman R. Weber, age 83, of Pasadena, TX, passed away on January 8, 2025 after a lengthy Illness. Herman was born in Beaumont, Texas to Frances and Arthur Weber. The first of 3 siblings, Herman attended school in Beaumont and graduated from French High School in 1960. He went on to Lamar University (c/o 1964) where he studied Government. He then enrolled at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York to pursue a Law degree. Herman's time at Cornell was interrupted by the Viet Nam war. He proudly served his country with a four-year stint in the US Navy where he was trained as a Russian Linguist in Monterrey, California. Following his release from the Navy, Herman returned to Cornell, and obtained a Master's Degree in Public Administration (c/o 1971). While in New York, Herman met & fell in love with his wife of 53 years, Loretta (Lori).

Herman worked in Public Administration, first in Waco, TX, and then for the City of Pasadena, TX. He retired as HR Director for the City of Pasadena after 25 years of service. Following his retirement, he continued to work as an Aflac Associate.

Herman was a life-long member of the Knights of Pythias following in the steps of his Grandfather, Herman A. Weber. He served as past-Grand Chancellor of the Texas Grand Lodge. He was a strong advocate for the Pythian Home in Weatherford, Texas. He was also long-time member of the Pasadena Rotary Club and served as President of that organization for a term. He loved people and was deeply involved in working for the charities supported by these organizations and other charities.

In addition to his work and lodge affiliations, Herman was involved in Community Service. He volunteered as the Santa Claus for the City of Pasadena for several years, bringing joy to kids and their families during the Christmas Season. He also served as a Committee Member for the Pasadena Strawberry Festival for many years. Herman was currently serving as a member of the Pasadena Civil Service Commission.

Herman enjoyed keeping up with old friends. He was a proud French High Buffalo and maintained close friendships with several members of his graduating Class, as well as others he met along the way.

Herman is survived by his beloved wife, Lori; daughter Anne O'Donnell Davis (Gerard), of New Hampshire; brother, Charles Weber (Fran) of Beaumont, TX; and sister, Mary Shannon of Cypress, TX; three nephews - Aaron Weber (Renee), Colin Shannon (Jessica), and Zeke Weber (Amanda); Life-long friend Doug Nilsen and God-daughter, Amy Scaff (Peter) and their sons, David & Connor.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Herman on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Grand View Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX. Visitation will be held beginning at 1:00 PM. Celebration of Herman's Life will begin at 2:00 PM.
