James Howard Moser, born on April 29, 1928, in Sonoma, California, left this earth April 21, 2016, in Pasadena, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Paul Moser, his mother, Mamie Irene (Mae) Sarlin Moser, wife and the mother of his children, Carol Louise Odendahl Moser, and his daughter, Laura Louise Moser.
Mr. Moser is survived by his wife, Connie B. Moser, his children, Ellen Margaret McKnight, Sara Lynne Moser and Jeffry Howard Moser, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A 1942 graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, James continued his education at Oregon State University and attained a PhD in chemical engineering in 1947. He was a member of the Society of Sigma Xi Fraternity.
James served in the US Army Reserves from 1950 to 1978, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He received Meritorious Service Medals.
James was employed at Shell Oil Company for 41 years. After retirement he learned to fly. He purchased an airplane and became an active participant in "Angel Flight." The mission of Angel Flight is to help people in need of free air transportation for medical and humanitarian purposes. This group is known as "ground angels, chauffeurs with wings."
The Masonic Lodge was honored to have James as one of its brothers for 44 years. He served most faithfully spreading the cement of brotherly love and friendship with all the skill of a Master Craftsman. The highest honor a lodge can bestow upon an individual member was awarded James, "Golden Trowel Award."
Services will be held at Grandview Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy., Pasadena, Texas 77505. Viewing will be Monday, April 26 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas.
