Lucinda Erdman Obituary
Lucy joined eternal life with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 14, 2022 in the presence of her loving family.
She began her earthly life in Montgomery, Texas where her three brothers and sister were born to John and Evie Defoor. As a young girl, Lucy and her family lived on a farm and picked cotton in the fields where Lake Conroe stands today.
On January 22, 1953, Lucy married Robert S. Massey and together they had 13 children. Robert passed away August 8, 1969, leaving Lucy alone to raise her children. Lucy experienced many challenges while her children grew, but raising a strong, loving family was always of utmost importance. She enjoyed making large meals and cooked on a wood-burning stove until her children were grown. She shared her love of cooking with many children when she began working in the cafeteria at Conroe High School and San Jacinto Elementary until the day she retired.
Lucy was introduced to David (Dave) Harris Erdman when he was invited to a Massey family Thanksgiving dinner. That was the beginning of the loving relationship between Lucy and Dave. They were joined in marriage on February 18, 1989, and became a blended family of 16 grown children, as David had three children of his own. Lucy and Dave accepted and loved each other's children and their extended families as their own. Together they loved family gatherings, gardening and raising farm animals. Lucy was such a strong, kind, caring and loving person. If you were at her home at mealtime, there was always plenty for everyone and all were welcome. She loved life and her entire family and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She was a precious lady.
Lucy is predeceased by her loving husband, David Erdman. She leaves behind; her biological children Eva Thatcher, Charles Massey, John and Linda Massey, Wayne Massey (deceased), Lanora and James Newman, Roy Massey, Nancy and Ricky Cranney, Patricia and Elton Ward, Gail and Chris Porter, Wanda and Andy Andrews, Raymond and Connie Massey, Donna and Tim Walker, and Sam Massey. Lucy's stepchildren include LeAnne and David Horn, Louise and Frank Devine and Michele and Larry Kolster. Lucy is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Pallbearers will include grandsons Johnathan Fisk, Dale Newman, Ricky Cranney III, Chris Cranney, Roy Massey Jr, Clifton Porter II, Mark Andrews and Ryan Young. Honorary pallbearers include grandsons John Massey II, Ross Massey, Jake Massey, Travis Massey, Brian Walker and great grandson Jason Newman who helped in so many ways.
Our entire family would like to thank Dr. Maribeth Moore and her staff at Family Healthcare Affiliates for the wonderful care they provided. We also thank our sister, Lanora Newman for taking the lead role in the loving care she provided over the years. Everyone who met Lucy was blessed by her kindness and love. She touched every soul she met with her sincerity, selflessness and caring. Lucy's smile, laughter and gentle spirit will be missed by so many. God has blessed each and every one of us who have been touched by her genuine, loving, kindness. She will be missed dearly.
