Talmadge Adams Obituary
We greatly mourn the loss of Talmadge Lamar Adams, Jr., who, after a lengthy and exhausting battle with cancer, died peacefully at home in Pearland, Texas, the morning of March 26, 2024. He was 72. His wife of 22 years, Mary, and his sister, LeWan were at his side.
Lamar was born in Houston, Texas, September 20, 1951, to Gladys Yvonne and Talmadge Lamar Adams. He grew up in Pasadena, Texas, where he lived for most of his life. His father taught him to draw house plans and he became a residential designer. He worked for years for his father's company, Adams Designers, and continued to work independently from home as long as he was able. Lamar had a passion for construction, carpentry, and cabinetry. When he wasn't designing and drafting, he enjoyed baseball games, eating out, humorous stories, and long discussions about politics. He also had a heart of gold and enjoyed helping others. For 25 years, he volunteered at Habitat for Humanity in Pasadena.
He was a devout Christian who met the love of his life, Mary, at church and married her shortly thereafter. They were members of First Baptist Church Pasadena and enjoyed attending services there until Lamar was physically unable to do so. He enjoyed watching the televised services from his sick bed and visits with Minister Dr. Jim Hastings whose counseling and prayers were greatly appreciated.
Lamar is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Settle Adams; stepsons, Gary Settle and wife, Barbara, Ron Settle and wife, Brenda; step-grandchildren, Erika and husband, Nick Rankin, Blaine Settle, Cole Settle, and Cory Settle; sisters, Cyndy and husband, Jerry Klossner, LeWan and husband, Doug Longtin; nieces and nephews, Alexis and husband, Matt Brown, Joe Longtin and wife, Nichole, Alyssa Klossner, James Longtin and wife, Karen, Dan Longtin and wife, Courtney; great-nieces and nephews, Keagon Longtin, Kiersin Longtin, Henry Brown, Ethan Longtin, Valens Klossner, Emma Longtin, and William Longtin.
